Trip Overview

Mera Peak is in the Hinku Valley of the Khumbu region which is the highest climbing peak in Nepal. It is at an Elevation of 6,476 m which offers climbers majestic views of the world’s highest five 8,000-meter mountains. Get awesome views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Kanchenjunga from the top of the Mera Peak. Mera Peak Climbing is challenging but it takes climbers through diverse off-beat trails, forested paths, and several Sherpa villages. Best Season

To experience the best views and for climbing, Spring (Mar-May) and Autumn (Sep-Nov) are the best seasons for the Mera Peak Climbing as the weather is favorable and temperatures are stable in these months. The unstable weather and temperature, slippery trails, flight cancelations, and only limited services are experienced during the summer/monsoon and winter seasons. Plan wisely to climb Mera Peak in winter and summer/monsoon seasons.


Altitude Sickness and Preventions

The Mera Peak Climbing has a maximum elevation gain of 6,476m. It is common to get altitude sickness above 2500 m and hence there is a chance of getting altitude sickness during the Mera Peak Climbing. Acclimatization rest is the best way to prevent altitude sickness. We advise taking an acclimatization rest as scheduled in the itinerary during the peak climbing.

Trek Difficulty and Fitness Level

Mera Peak Climbing is graded as challenging. This peak climbing demands climbers to trek above an elevation of 5,000 m and stay at high altitudes for longer days. It is beneficial to have a previous trekking experience. This peak climbing is physically demanding and requires climbers to walk long hours daily on rough trails and at high elevations. Climbers can also find difficulty in the limited availability of services and comfort during peak climbing. It is challenging for climbers and we suggest climbers attempt with full planning and preparations only.

Fitness level is an important factor in peak climbing and demands climbers to be in top-notch health conditions. Climbers must be both physically and mentally fit for the Mera Peak Climbing. We advise climbers to participate in physical exercises (cardiovascular, high-intensity, etc.), and mental exercises (meditation, yoga, etc.) before starting the peak climbing.

Day by Day Itinerary

Welcome to Nepal and our representative greets you at the International Airport. After fulfilling all the formalities, get transferred by a private vehicle to the hotel in Kathmandu. Afterward, a brief meet and discussion with a trek guide, and team. Stay overnight.


The day is trek documentation preparation day. Visit our office for a brief meet and discussion with a trek guide, and team. We shall take care of all your documentation process. There is an optional Kathmandu sightseeing tour which includes places like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa, Boudhanath Stupa, and Pashupatinath Temple. If you wish to we can arrange it for you. (Extra Cost applies).


Wake up early to board a Lukla flight which takes about 45 minutes. Relish the scenic flight and land at the world’s one extreme airport, Tenzing-Hillary Airport. From Lukla, start trekking to Chutanga along with a guide and porters. Pass through the forested trails of rhododendrons and magnolia to reach Nangbu. Traverse old bridges admiring the beautiful surroundings and arrive at Chutanga for an overnight stay. Stay overnight in a teahouse.

Pass through the forested trails and ascend slowly to cross Zatrwa La Pass which is a bit tough. From the top of the pass, cherish the amazing views of Numbur Himal, KongdiRi, Lumdung Himal, etc. Slowly walk downhill and follow the stony trails leading to Thuli Kharka. Stay overnight in a teahouse


Follow the descending trail on a rocky trail where you ascend and descend numerous times. Walk through the forested trails of pine, rhododendrons, and oaks to enter the Hinku Valley. Continue to trek following the west trail route adoring the stunning Mera Peak view to reach Kothe. Stay overnight in a teahouse.


Walk on a steep ascending trail and pass a herders’ summer settlement of Gondishung. Continue to walk further and pass ancient Lungsumgba Gompa. Adoring the picturesque scenery arrive at Thagnak where you get to witness fabulous views of Kusum Kanguru, Mera Peak, and other peaks. Stay overnight in a teahouse.


Walk through the steep moraines of Dig Glacier and Charpati Glacial Lake leading to Dig Kharka. Pass through the HinkuNup glacial moraines and climb on a steep trail that leads to Khare for an overnight stay.


Acclimatization day is very much essential to adjust your body to the surroundings and to prevent altitude sickness. During this peak climbing, acclimatization rest day is very crucial as we participate in pre-climbing training sessions and equipment and gear uses. After completing the training session, trek to nearby places to get comfortable with the environment. For peak climbing, finalize all gear and equipment and do proper checking and packing. Stay overnight in a teahouse.


Relishing the stunning Mera Peak views ascend slowly towards Mera Glacier. As the elevation rises, there might be a slight difficulty so make sure to keep yourself hydrated and follow the guide’s instructions properly. Keep on walking enjoying the incredible views of Everest, Makalu, Baruntse, Chamlang, etc. Reach Mera High Camp where our crew members set up tents for an overnight stay.


Today is the main day to summit the Mera Peak which is at an elevation of 6,476 m. With full preparation and carrying all equipment, ascend slowly following the footsteps of our expert guides. The temperature and weather are challenging as you climb further so, maintaining the pace climb slowly. Cross the Mera Glacier and reach the toughest last segment of the Mera Peak. Use proper equipment and gear and arrive at the Mera Peak summit successfully. Get rewarded with the phenomenal views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Kanchenjunga. Return to camp descending slowly and have lunch and hot drinks. Descend to Khare slowly for an overnight stay.


A reserve day is scheduled in case the Mera Peak Climbing is canceled due to bad weather or the first attempt is not successful due to circumstances. This reserve day can be used to rest by climbers if they have successfully attempted the Mera Peak Climbing or continue further to the next destination as their preference.


Traverse through the moraines of Hinku Nup, Dig Kharka, and Dig Glacier descend on the trail. Pass through the settlements of Thagnak and traversing Lungsumgba Gompa walk alongside the Hinku River trail to reach Kothe. Stay overnight in a teahouse.


Pass through the forested trail of rhododendrons and pine on an ascending and descending trail relishing the awesome Mera Peak view. Follow the ridges of the HinkuRiver and ascend on a trail admiring the towering peaks in the background. Arrive at Thuli Kharka for an overnight stay.


Retrace the trail adoring the scenery ascend to Zatrwa La Pass and witness the phenomenal surrounding views from the pass. Slowly descend following the trail and head to Lukla for an overnight stay.


After completing a memorable Mera Peak Climbing fly back to Kathmandu which takes about 45 minutes. Get transferred to the hotel and the day is free to explore on your own. Join us for a farewell dinner in the evening. Stay overnight.
