Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is one of the most popular and explored treks in the Langtang Region. It takes trekkers to the sacred  Gosaikunda Lake which is pious for both Hindus and Buddhist devotees. Pass through Langtang National Park adoring diverse flora and fauna in the surroundings. Walk on ascending and descending trails through forested trails of juniper, pine, oak, rhododendron, etc. This trek is a great combination of culture and nature to experience.

Traverse the beautiful settlements of Tamang villages and hike to Tsergo Ri (5,033 m) which is the highest point of this trek. Explore the attractive Langtang Valley and follow the trail to the holy Gosaikunda Lake. The local culture, local foods, and friendly local people make this trek more memorable. Best Season

To experience the best views, Spring (Mar-May) and Autumn (Sep-Nov) are the best seasons for the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek as the weather is favorable and temperatures are stable in these months. The unstable weather and temperature, slippery trails, and only limited services are experienced during the monsoon and winter seasons. Plan wisely to trek in winter and monsoon seasons.


Altitude Sickness and Preventions

Langtang Gosaikunda Trek has a Maximum Elevation gain of 5,033 m. It is common to get altitude sickness above 2500 m and hence there is a chance of getting altitude sickness during the Langtang & Gosaikunda Trek. Acclimatization rest is the best way to prevent altitude sickness. We advise taking an acclimatization rest as scheduled in the itinerary during the trek.

Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is a moderate-graded trek. It is beneficial to have a previous trekking experience. It is slightly easy for experienced trekkers and moderate for beginner trekkers. This trek is physically demanding and requires trekkers to walk long hours daily on rough trails. Trekkers can also find difficulty in the limited availability of services and comfort during the trek.

Fitness level is an important factor in trekking and demands trekkers to be in good health condition. Trekkers must be both physically and mentally fit for the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek. We advise trekkers to participate in physical exercises (cardiovascular, high-intensity, etc.), and mental exercises (meditation, yoga, etc.) before starting the trek.

Day by Day Itinerary

Welcome to Nepal and our representative greets you at the International Airport. After fulfilling all the formalities, get transferred by a private vehicle to the hotel in Kathmandu. Afterward, a brief meet and discussion with a trek guide, and team. Stay overnight.


Langtang Valley trek begins with a scenic drive to Syabrubesi by local vehicle. The bus journey is long but experiencing a ride on a rough bumpy road and adoring picturesque scenery is amazing. Traverse through Betrawati and Dhunche and arrive at Syabrubesi. Stay overnight in a teahouse.


Start the trek with a bridge cross and walk on the ascending trail. Walk on a comfortable smooth flat trail relishing the surrounding views. Pass Bamboo through the forested trail and climb uphill to reach Lama Hotel. Stay overnight in a teahouse.


Walk past a forested trail of rhododendrons, hemlock, oak, and junipers enjoying the beautiful scenery. Pass through the settlement of Ghodatabela and climb uphill for a few hours to arrive at the beautiful Langtang Village. Stay overnight in a teahouse.


Trek to Kyanjin Gompa through ascending and descending trails following the forested trail. Walk slowly as the elevation slightly rises cherishing the towering peaks in the backdrop. Arrive at Kyanjin Gompa for an overnight stay.


The day is spent hiking to Tsergo Ri which is at an elevation of 5,033 m. Ascend slowly cherishing the surrounding views. This hike does not involve any technicality. The elevation rises so hike slowly and keep yourself hydrated. Relish the beautiful Langtang Valley, flowing Langtang River while hiking. Reach the summit and get rewarded with stunning views of Langtang Lirung, Yala Peak, Naya Khang, Langtang Ri, etc. Enjoy the views and have a packed lunch. Descend slowly and trek back to Kyanjin Gompa. Stay overnight in a teahouse.


After breakfast, trek back to Lama Hotel retracing the same trail adoring the surrounding scenery. Pass through the beautiful settlements of Langtang Village and Ghodatabela. Arrive at Lama Hotel for an overnight stay.


Trek following the descending trail through the forested trail. Traverse the settlements of Bamboo and Pairo and arrive at Langtang Hydropower Project. Continue to trek to Thulo Syabru enjoying the Ganesh Himal views. Stay overnight in a teahouse.


Pass through an ancient stupa following the steep trail on the forested trail. Relishing the surrounding views trek past several villages. Walk on ascending and descending trails adoring the beautiful landscapes and climb uphill to reach Sing Gompa for an overnight stay.


As we trek past Cholangpati and Lauribinayak, elevation slowly rises. So, trek slowly maintaining a pace cherishing the surrounding views climb uphill to Gosaikunda. Witness the stunning beautiful lakes in the vicinity complimented by towering peaks in the background including Langtang ranges. Visit the Shiva temple and capture some pictures for memories. Back to the teahouse for an overnight stay.


Trek downhill slowly from Gosaikunda and walk past small lakes before ascending toward Lauribina Pass. It is at an elevation of 4,610 m so trek slowly cherishing the beautiful scenery. From the pass, descend slowly to Phedi. Cross across a stream and ascend uphill to arrive at Ghopte. Stay overnight in a teahouse.


Pass through the forested trails of rhododendron, juniper, and pine and traverse the beautiful settlement of Tharepati. Descend slowly admiring the magnificent views of Dorje Lakpa, and Shisapangma peaks. Traverse Magin Goth and descend on a steep trail that leads to Khutumsang. Stay overnight in a teahouse.


Trek to Chisapani is filled with several ascends and descends. Adoring the fabulous views of Ganesh, Jugal, and Langtang ranges descend to Golphu Bhanjyang, Lapcha Danda, and Pati Bhanjyang to arrive at Chisapani. Experience the slightly cold temperature here. Stay overnight in a teahouse.


Trek back to Sundarijal from Chisapani that takes about 2-3 hours. The trek is over and return to Kathmandu by a local vehicle that takes an hour and get transferred to the hotel. Join us for a farewell dinner in the evening. Stay overnight.
