Bhutan is a beautiful small land-locked nation in South Asia surrounded by China in the north and India in the east, west, and south. Bhutan has an area of 38,394 sq. km and is covered by 98% of mountains. Bhutan is abundantly rich in its biodiversity and it is home to diverse flora and fauna. Bhutan is one of the most forested nations in the world with approx. 71% of the land is covered by forest. Bhutan is famous as the ‘Land of the Thunder Dragon’ which was opened for tourists only in 1974. This magical and mystical nation is a unique hidden gem that has numerous phenomenal attractions.

Vajrayana Buddhism is highly practiced and ancient-old monasteries are one of the prime highlights in Bhutan. The verdant greenery, several monasteries including the renowned Tiger’s Nest, attractive Bhutanese fortresses, and Dzongs, vibrant Tshechu festivals, colorful masked dances, and national parks with towering snow-capped peaks in the background make Bhutan a special destination to travel to. Bhutan is the only nation in the world that uses economic status based on its ‘Gross Happiness Index’. It means happiness is their priority over wealth status.
