Take a scenic flight to Lhasa and adore the mountain vistas and land at Lhasa Gonggar Airport. Our representative welcomes you and gets transferred to the hotel in Lhasa after taking a 2-hour scenic private vehicle ride. Take proper acclimatization rest as Lhasa is at a high elevation and your body must adapt to the surroundings to prevent altitude sickness. Lhasa sightseeing begins after breakfast with a visit to UNESCO World Heritage Sites starting with the grand Potala Place The palace is now converted into a museum which has 13 storeys of building that houses 1,000 rooms, 10,000 shrines, and approx. 200,000 statues. Visit the nearby Buddhist Jokhang temple which is a holy pilgrimage site that has the gold statue of Jowo Rinpoche. End the tour with a visit to Barkhor Street in the vicinity which is famous for performing the Kora ritual (circumbation). The street is also popular for purchasing Tibetan souvenirs. After breakfast, our Lhasa sightseeing commences with a visit to the UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site of an ancient Norbulingka Palace. The palace was built in 1755 and is well-known for its marvelous Tibetan architecture. The palace organizes the popular Sho Dun (Yogurt) Festival annually usually in the month of mid-August. If you are here around this month, don’t miss to attend it. Visit Drepung and Sera Monastery afterward which are integral parts of the Gelug School of Tibetan Buddhism. Drepung is one of the 3 largest monasteries of the Gelug School of Tibetan Buddhism which is a holy monastery. Sera Monastery is another sacred monastery popular for its debate sessions. Take part in it which takes between 3 to 5 pm. This monastery also preserves scriptures written with golden powder. Stay overnight in a hotel.
Visit the sacred Yamdrok Lake which is a few kilometers far away from Lhasa. Take a scenic ride and cross Kampala Pass relishing the stunning view of Mt. Nojin Kangtsang (7191m). A freshwater Yamdrok Lake is a holy take in Tibet which is among one of the three largest lakes in Tibet. Visit the nearby Samding Monastery and enjoy spending some time admiring the snow-capped peaks and the lake’s beauty. Return to Lhasa and stay overnight in a hotel.
