A historic record by Purnima Shrestha conquering Everest thrice in a single season making it a world record. She became the first woman in the world as well as in Nepal to achieve such a victorious feat.
Purnima first climbed successfully on May 12, then on May 19, and May 25 respectively. Everest summiting is not everyone’s cup of tea and climbing once is a Herculean task. But, Purnima proved with her strong will and passion for mountaineering climbed thrice in a single season. With the team of 8K Expeditions, Purnima achieved this feat accompanied by Phurba Temba Sherpa, Pasang Sherpa, and Karma Gyaljen Sherpa on three successful attempts respectively.
With this, Purnima has climbed Everest for four times. Not only Everest, Purnima holds the record of climbing several 8000 meters peaks in her name. She has climbed Manaslu (8,156 m) twice, K2 (8,611 m), Kanchenjunga (8,586 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Makalu (8,481 m) Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), and Annapurna I (8,091 m).
